History hasnt been kind to this Pay Per View (or the WCW/ECW InVasion in general), but at the time, this was a pretty radical concept, even with the absence of the big WCW stars like Hogan, Hall, Nash, Goldberg, Flair, Sting, Steiner and others. An influx of new talent like Rob Van Dam, Lance Storm, Booker T, and DDP allowed for fresher matches. Also, for what little major talent they had, and the botching of initially portraying WCW as babyfaces, creative righted the ship on the July 9, 2001 edition of Raw of having WCW and ECW join forces to collectively take down the WWF. As a novelty, it was at least pretty interesting, with tag champions facing each other, cruiserweight/light heavyweight champions facing each other, and even head referees facing each other. A real gem on the show was the Hardcore Title match between Jeff Hardy and Rob Van Dam which solidified RVDs push throughout the rest of the year. Steve Austin turning on Team WWF at the end of the night would have had a bigger impact if he hadnt already turned on the fans earlier in the year at Wrestlemania.
