In 2009/2010, WWE went away from normal non-big-four Pay Per Views to a more gimmicked format. Gone were No Way Out, Backlash, Judgment Day, Unforgiven and No Mercy, and in their places were Elimination Chamber, Fatal 4 Way, Hell in a Cell and Tables Ladders and Chairs. The move to gimmicked Pay Per Views had their hits and misses, but a big hit was giving Money in the Bank its own Pay Per View concept. The multi-man ladder match had always been a highlight of Wrestlemania, and now there were going to be two on the same card. Both ladder matches at the inaugural PPV lived up to the lofty standards of the gimmick, and had a history-making moment as a winner (Kane) cashed in the briefcase on the same night. The decision to give Miz the briefcase may seem like a head-scratcher in hindsight, but it was the right move at the time, as Miz had really upped his game both in the ring and on the mic in 2009/10. In addition, this was a time where the Nexus was still hot and the awful Cena-in-the-Nexus angle hadnt happened yet. They were still the biggest heels on the roster. Their interference jazzed up a Sheamus/Cena cage match that otherwise had no juice.
