1. TLC 1 (2000)

The steady build of increasingly extreme action between these three teams peaked at WrestleMania X-7, and TLC 2 is admittedly the better match, with the more memorable spots. But finishing second in a list to TLC 2 is nothing to sniff at, and this initial merging of tables, ladders, and chairs remains a high bar for tag team wrestling.

As WWE mismanages its doubles division, the late ‘90s-early ‘00s looks even more golden. The Hardyz, Dudleys, and Edge and Christian locked horns so many times but we couldn’t get bored of it when they put on matches like this.

It’s a spot fest, but everything has meaning, with wrestlers hoisted by the petard of their own signature tools. Jeff Hardy’s ladder-aided swanton bomb leads only to his misery. Buh Buh sets up a bunch of tables, then takes the plunge himself.

It’s magnificently orchestrated chaos and the high point of a pretty fantastic SummerSlam. These six guys made a pact to throw caution to the wind in order to entertain the rabid fans, and made themselves legends in the process.
