11. Kane Vs. Randy Orton (WrestleMania XXVIII)

Shoehorned in towards the bottom of the card, and with nothing of any great note at stake, Kane vs. Randy Orton from WrestleMania XXVIII was always going to struggle to be a classic. Plus, a contrived pre-match storyline didn’t do the angle any favours.

Allegedly, this one was all about closure. Prior to the match, Michael Cole spoke about how Kane had been stewing over a post-match incident from way back in July of the previous year, in which Kane had uncharacteristically shaken Orton’s hand, before disappearing from TV for a number of months. Now, he was back, fully masked, and hoping to prove he was actually still a monster rather than a hand-shaking gentleman.

Of course, he’d actually disappeared from TV due to Mark Henry injuring his ankle, though that angle was promptly dropped, and upon returning he’d already feuded with John Cena, so this closure clearly wasn’t too great of a concern.

Realistically, it felt like the writers were clutching at straws in search of a way to somehow fit both guys onto the show, and while the match itself wasn’t necessarily terrible, nor was in any way memorable, making for one of the more forgettable chapters from Orton’s WrestleMania past.
