3. WrestleMania 37 (Roman vs. Edge vs. Daniel Bryan)

Roman Reigns Edge Daniel Bryan
WWE

At the time, the decision to go all-in with Roman Reigns as the 'Tribal Chief' over Royal Rumble winner Edge and the perpetual fan favourite Daniel Bryan was a smart but reasonable-to-question decision.

Reigns was mere months into his 'Chief' persona, having won the Universal Championship upon his return just the previous summer. No-one at the time could've predicted that he would carry that title (and the WWE Championship) all the way to WrestleMania 40...a full 3 years away. History at the time taught us that WWE always soured on a Reigns push and never went for broke, after all.

This time, management were fully invested in Roman during an action-packed 'Mania 37 main event. When Edge snapped near the end and hit a con-chair-to on Bryan, it looked like WWE was going to finish Edge’s story. However, Jey Uso interfered, saving Roman, who then speared and blasted Edge with a con-chair-to of his own, and subsequently dragged the 'Rated-R Superstar’s' lifeless corpse on top of Bryan for the double pin.

Roman would continue to smash the opposition and look indestructible for another 3 years, so this was clearly the right move and set him up nicely for everything yet to come.
