Rey Mysterio vs. Randy Orton vs. Kurt Angle - Wrestlemania 22
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wDiq2xHXJZc Rey Mysterio won the Royal Rumble in 2006, entering the match at #2 and spent the longest time that anyone has ever spent in a Royal Rumble match to date, with a total time of 1:02:12. Mysterio dedicated his performance and victory to Eddie Guerrero, who had suddenly passed away only a few months before. Rey was going to Wrestlemania 22 to challenge Kurt Angle for his World Heavyweight Championship, but at No Way Out, he lost his #1 contendership to Randy Orton, who took Rey's place. Smackdown GM Teddy Long would later reinstate Mysterio, making the match a triple threat instead. The match at Wrestlemania didn't waste any time in getting going - with all three men going all out and hitting high spots from the beginning of the match. Together they created some innovative moves involving all three of them, and each man played an equal part in the action. Mysterio picked up the win by hitting Orton with the 619. My only criticisms of the match is that it could have been a little longer, just to make Rey's victory seem more hard fought, but there's a chance the match would have been cut shorter due to time constraints. I'm also not sure it was a good idea to have both Mysterio & Orton tap out to the Anklelock (which went unnoticed by the referee), especially so early in the match. They're only little things though, it was a lot of fun to watch. Overall it was a fast-paced, go all out match, which is the kind of match that Smackdown was becoming known for around 2005/2006. The crowd were pleased for Mysterio, but really would have preferred if Angle retained.
