Ranking Every WWE Champion Of The Attitude Era

There may not be a more heartwarming moment in the Attitude Era than watching Mick Foley finally achieve what so many people believed to be impossible: Winning the WWE Championship.

And even if Mankind's first title reign accomplished nothing else, it became a turning point in the Monday Night Wars, shifting the tide in WWE's favour while giving a firm middle finger to the WCW goons who saw fit to mock Foley's victory on air.

Unfortunately, all three of Foley's title reigns really did come dangerously close to giving us nothing more than that. None of them lasted longer than a month, and his third (and final...ever) run endured for just 24 hours.

During that time he had a couple of spectacular matches with The Rock, but it just never really felt like Mick Foley owned that title. You always got the sense it was just on loan.

So yeah, it was a real tearjerker moment seeing DX hoist the newly-crowned Foley - the embodiment of childhood dreams coming true - on their shoulders.

It always felt good to watch him come to the ring with definitive proof around his waist that he was every bit as worthy of being the top guy in the company as anyone else.

It's just a shame the booking never really backed that up.
