Working the entire Chamber match, defending titleholder CM Punk was the highlight of the 2012 match exactly as he had been the previous year.

Mugging with his title right in the face of each of his opponents, Punk defied the odds as he remained determined to make it to WrestleMania as WWE Champion.

Further building to his feud with Chris Jericho at the 'Show of Shows', Punk eliminated R-Truth with his sloppy elbow drop leaping from the post right in front of 'Y2J's pod, then added insult to injury by literally booting him out of the Chamber and knocking him cold shortly after Jericho had eliminated Kofi Kingston.

With Punk, the announcers and ringside referees treating the situation as seriously as possible, the match was left to the 'Voice of the Voiceless' and the previous year's WrestleMania main eventer The Miz, who nearly stole the title with a fabulous 'Skull Crushing Finale' from a Punk springboard attack.

With his eventual victory, CM Punk looked like a true WWE headliner for the first time since scooping the title in November, and Jericho was able to argue his way into a title shot due to never suffering formal elimination from the Chamber.
