This was another Elimination Chamber match with all the ingredients for an awesome affair, so it isn’t too surprising that the resultant contest proved to be just that.

Seasoned veterans Chris Jericho and Shawn Michaels laid the foundations by kicking off the action, before Umaga entered to do what he does best and bulldoze through everyone in sight. This clearly incensed JBL; after he was the first to be eliminated, he went on a spree of his own, handing out chair shots to anything that moved and leveling out the playing field somewhat.

Umaga was eventually foiled when Jeff Hardy nailed a Swanton Bomb from the roof of one of the pods, and Jericho and Michaels followed in quick succession to set up an underdog story of Hardy vs. Triple H at the death. Finishers were traded back and forth before a Pedigree onto a chair would cruelly end Hardy’s WrestleMania dreams.

At the time, this may have seemed like another case of Triple H’s infamous spotlight-hogging, though you could argue this outcome soon proved to be the right one: a few weeks later Hardy was suspended for his second Wellness violation.
