While most Money in the Bank cash-ins are usually played out in fairly underhanded fashion, that wasn’t the case with Rob Van Dam’s. As an undisputed babyface, he was sure to warn John Cena ahead of time about his intention go after his WWE title, and that he’d fittingly do so at the 2006 ECW One Night Stand show.

That notice only added to the hype surrounding the PPV. By the time it rolled around, a partisan New York crowd were practically baying for the champion’s blood, with that now-infamous “If Cena Wins, We Riot” sign hanging from the balcony.

So it was a good job that Edge decided to show up in a motorcycle helmet, Spear Cena through a table and allow Van Dam to hit the Five Star Frog Splash and score the pin—a pin counted by Paul Heyman, of all people.

It was an awesome moment capping off a strong 70-day run with the ‘case. RVD’s only losses during that time came in handicap action or via disqualification, and he even picked up a brief Intercontinental title reign along the way. All in all, a pretty great couple of months for Van Dam.
