The company promised a collision of two legends that they couldn't even legally deliver, but it didn't dampen enthusiasm for the potential meeting of The Undertaker and Bret Hart some 13 years on from their outstanding 1997 programme.

The 'Hitman' had been back in the fold since his historic 4 January return, and had been back in the mix at SummerSlam just weeks earlier alongside John Cena and his team against The Nexus, but an actual clash with 'The Deadman' was destined for the screwy conclusion the company delivered.

The battle devolved into a skirmish between Undertaker, Kane and Wade Barrett, as his crew of invaders took out Kane's World Championship challenger on behalf of the 'Big Red Machine'. It was the highlight of a pedestrian show that thankfully offered flash-forwards to a brighter future than the dull past of the prior years.

CM Punk cut a searing state-of-the-nation address that foreshadowed his 2011 Las Vegas outburst whilst The Miz and Daniel Bryan waged war over the United States Title ahead of both eventually winning the company's top prize and maintaining disdain to this day,
