Ranking Every WWE SmackDown "Throwback" From Worst To Best

1. Teddy Long (Playa)

There was never any doubt when it came to last night's number one, was there?

Bouncing into the ThunderDome like he hadn't missed a beat, Teddy Long seized the headlines early by interrupting a brawl between Seth Rollins and Cesaro to reveal that the latter would earn a Universal Championship shot at WrestleMania Backlash if he was victorious over the former in their match. (Soz, Seth)

The former SmackDown General Manager wasn't finished there, however. After threatening to make Sami Zayn go "one-on-one with The Undertaker", before quickly remembering that old faithful card would be difficult to play in 2021, the GM for the night reverted to his other best-known ruling; setting up a huge 10-man tag for later on in the show. And it wouldn't by Teddy Long without a few of the WWE Hall of Famer's legendary moves, something Zayn wasn't very pleased about partaking in.

This is precisely what "Throwback" SmackDown should've been all about. Sweet returns from faces intrinsically linked with the Friday night show, aesthetically pleasing nods to the past via old SmackDown logos, ring gear, and sets, and just a general tip of the cap to all things blue.

Sadly, only a handful of those things left us feeling any way satisfied, so hopefully this night can act as a vital lesson to those booking future "Throwbacks"; More holla, less holograms.
