The Miz was arguably the first individual to win the briefcase who truly incorporated it into his character. He carried it around with him everywhere, and in many ways it was the perfect accompaniment to his smarmy, cowardly heel demeanour. Rather than an aside, the briefcase was to be the vehicle that pushed The Miz over the top.

For a while, it did. After cashing-in on Randy Orton in late 2010, The Miz defended the title against Jerry Lawler of all people the next week on RAW. His reign would last 160 days, the second longest title reign following a cash-in, a reign that saw him successfully defend it in the main event of WrestleMania 27 against John Cena.

During his reign Miz defeated Lawler, John Morrison, Randy Orton and others, before losing the belt to John Cena in a triple threat steel cage match at Extreme Rules 2011. When Money in the Bank season comes around and folk talk of the briefcase being won by a heel needing something a little extra, it is The Miz that this is based on.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
