John Cena was set to defend his championship belt in a Triple Threat match at Taboo Tuesday back in 2005. While Kurt Angle was one of his confirmed opponents, the other was to be determined by a public vote. Two of the options were Shawn Michaels and The Big Show, with the final choice to be decided on the 17 October edition of Monday Night Raw in a Battle Royal match.

Eric Bischoff revealed the last entrant in the match to be Kane, who had been out of action for a couple of months following his exclusion from the Lita and Edge storyline.

The Big Red Machine stormed down to the ring to face-off with the 18 other competitors, and wasted no time in making his presence felt. After taking Carlito for a ride with a horrifying chokeslam, he made short work of the other entrants, and in the end, was crowned the victor.
