Ranking WWE's Divisions - From Worst To Best
8. The Cruiserweights
WWE's newest division has had its fair share of struggles.
Debuting to great fanfare, the Cruiserweight division was born from the success of the Cruiserweight Classic tournament. WWE saw how enamoured fans were with the high-flying, in-ring action, thinking we'd want to see it each and every week. It became stale far too quickly, as character development was thrown out the window in favour of six-man tags and phoenix splashes.
Since then, the division has rallied behind a heel champion in Neville who is excelling in this new role. They even manufactured a noteworthy WrestleMania feud involving Austin Aries, but the problem lies in the division's depth.
Guys like TJP, Rich Swann, and Jack Gallagher all have serious talent, but there has been little for them to do outside of the title picture. The never-ending Alicia Fox saga is testament to that. Akira Tozawa and the returning Cedric Alexander are both waiting in the wings, but it's hard to build guys in this division as title contenders.
Ultimately, WWE would fare better by opening up the Cruiserweight division. Let Swann and Alexander chase the tag titles. Pair Jack Gallagher with The Miz. Maybe even let Enzo Amore take a shot at Neville. And for the love of god, use Gran Metalik.
