Real Reason Edge Keeps VANISHING From WWE

A big-time contract update on WWE's Edge, who comes and goes from pro wrestling.

Edge's sporadic WWE schedule is because the Hall-of-Famer is bound to a contract with limited dates, per Fightful Select.

The exact terms of this agreement are unclear. As noted by Fightful, it was reported in 2020 that the veteran had signed a three-year contract for 25 appearances and five annual matches, though he worked 10 bouts in 2021 and has six on his record in 2022. There is currently no word on when his contract is due to expire, or how many matches Edge has left.

If Edge's comeback contract was, indeed, for three years, it could be set to expire soon. That said, WWE retains the right to freeze contracts when talents are rendered unable to work due to injury - and Edge sat out for seven months after tearing his triceps in April 2020.

Whether or not WWE actually froze Edge's deal during this period is unclear, but his limited dates are why he regularly takes time away from television.

Edge delivered what was once considered an impossible return in the 2020 Royal Rumble, coming back in spectacular fashion during the titular match, drawing a thunderous pop. He remains one of WWE's most over performers to date.
