Real Reason These Top WWE Stars Missed The WrestleMania 36 Build
Here's why Drew McIntyre & co. disappeared before WrestleMania.
This week's Wrestling Observer Newsletter features a couple of writeups explaining why several of WWE's top stars went missing from television in the last few weeks of the WrestleMania 36.
You guessed it: our old friend the ongoing global health crisis was the prime culprit.
Drew McIntyre is the most notable name on the list, with his absence leaving Brock Lesnar, Paul Heyman, and the WWE video production team to carry one of 'Mania's top programmes. Per Dave Meltzer's report, McIntyre and Sheamus were quarantined when they returned to the United States after leaving a United Kingdom promotional tour early, which also explains why the Irishman vanished from SmackDown.
Elsewhere, Meltzer reaffirms that Bobby Lashley went into quarantine following a similar tour in South Africa (as was previously reported) while Kairi Sane met a similar fate, having gone back to her native Japan to get married.
McIntyre defeated Lesnar at WrestleMania 36, finally becoming WWE Champion in the process. Lashley and Sane both lost while Sheamus wasn't in the card, though many have him pegged as a potential first challenger for new Universal Champion Braun Strowman, who smashed Goldberg at 'Mania.
