Paul 'Triple H' Levesque's appearance on this week's episode of WWE Raw came attached with an interesting backstage note.

Fightful Select reports that internally, WWE relayed Raw's show-closing angle as "someone big putting over Cody Rhodes." This, as we saw on Monday, turned out to be the company's Chief Content Officer.

Rhodes had a rough night in kayfabe. The show opened on Night of Champions 2023 opponent Brock Lesnar attacking 'The American Nightmare' ahead of their match this Saturday, cracking Cody's arm against a door. Later, Cody confronted Brock with his arm sling-clad and iced-up, pulling the appendages off before leaping into a fight. This led to Lesnar "snapping" Rhodes' arm after trapping him in a kimura, putting Cody in peril ahead of Night of Champions.

Later, Triple H approached Rhodes backstage, telling him he needed to seek medical attention for what he assumed was a broken arm. A defiant Cody responded that he was "... going to Night of Champions and I'm going to fight Brock Lesnar."

Rhodes vs. Lesnar remains one of the marquee matches on this weekend's premium live event, alongside Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa vs. Undisputed Tag Team Champions Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens, plus Seth Rollins vs. AJ Styles.
