Real Reason Why Asuka Went Out For WWE Raw Commentary
The PC wasn't ready for Asuka!
Jerry Lawler mentioned in his most recent podcast episode that Asuka was actually thrown into a commentary position in order to make some noise in the latest empty arena edition of Monday Night Raw.
WWE have had to make the most of a difficult situation with their recent tapings in the Performance Center - due to the current global situation - and last Monday's episode of Raw saw a show-stealing appearance from Asuka on commentary.
Apparently the reason Asuka was out there in the first place was to try and conjure up some atmospheric noise for the match between Andrade and Rey Mysterio.
Lawler stated:
“They put Asuka out there to help with the commentary and to try to help make some noise and keep things as loud as possible during the match where it wouldn’t be silence so that helped a lot. It’s a tough go and I felt sorry for Rey and Andrade and Zelina but they still did great.”
Lawler seemed open to working with Asuka again in more hilarious interview segements going forward and said:
“That would be awesome. I could imagine sitting and doing just a little sit-down interview with her. It would have to be that the people would think I knew what she was saying and of course, I would just interpret it into a whole hilarious and funny or scathing interview or promo about somebody else and putting it into my words. Actually, everybody would know I had no clue what Asuka was really saying. You could do some funny stuff with that. Except the Japanese audience would know that I was an idiot out there.”
If one silver lining can be found in this current situation it's that Asuka has been able to steal the spotlight once more with her fantastic character work. Hopefully, we'll see more of her in a similar position over the next few weeks and a match for the Women's Tag Team Championships - with herself and Kairi Sane taking on Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross being suggested - will be put into a prominent position come the Show of Shows.
