Rebooking WWE SummerSlam 2003: 7 Ways To Make It Better

1. Kurt Angle Vs. Brock Lesnar - I Quit Match For The WWE Championship

Ah, the Brock Lesnar/Kurt Angle saga of 2003. Angle and Lesnar had a traditional rivalry leading up to WrestleMania XIX but it changed somewhat when Angle came back following neck surgery as a babyface. They became an uber-competitive friends/rivals who spent more time cracking jokes than actually wrestling each other. That all changed when Angle won the WWE Championship at Vengeance. Lesnar couldn't deal with that and formed a pact with the tyrannical Mr. McMahon. He developed (or rediscovered) his mean streak and destroyed the likes of poor Zach Gowen and Paul London. The Angle/Lesnar showdown at SummerSlam was oddly sandwiched in the middle of the card and had no stipulation. It was just a regular match, something we had seen out of Lesnar and Angle several times before. In this version of SummerSlam 2003, Angle and Lesnar would clash in an I Quit match. It makes sense because not only does it play into their submission styles, but Lesnar could also show a little more of his vicious side. It would be a brutal, bloody and epic match, with the Olympic gold medalist coming out on top by making The Next Big Thing tap out to the ankle lock. What would you have done to improve SummerSlam 2003? Would you have kept the Elimination Chamber match but used different competitors? Is Kurt Anlge leaving as WWE Champion?
