Report: Kevin Owens Has Been Working Unscripted On WWE Television

Sounds like that "pipe bomb" came from the heart...

Kevin Owens has become one of the most exciting things on WWE television lately, with last week's worked shoot "pipe bomb" promo on Shane McMahon kickstarting a big anti-hero babyface run for the oft-undermined charisma machine.

KO has since followed by squashing Dolph Ziggler at Extreme Rules, hitting McMahon with two Stunners on this week's SmackDown, and generally being as big a nuisance to the 'Best in the World' as possible. He's a man reborn, and he's been on fire on the microphone.

The reason for this is simple: KO is apparently working without a script.

This is according to Sports Illustrated, who claim that like Chris Jericho before him, Owens is cutting his promos the old-school way. WWE are giving him a few bullet points to work off but he has the freedom to craft his diatribes however he wishes to, showing that the writers have great faith in him as a talker.

Encouraging news, as few things strangle a performer's ability to show personality than scripted promos, and Owens has more personality than almost anyone else on the roster. Here's hoping that his recent successes open doors for others.
