Report: WWE Salaries Decreased During Latest Round Of Cutbacks
Paycuts, releases, and more as WWE's latest round of budget cuts kicks in.
WWE has had staff members take paycuts as the promotion continues trimming its budget through the ongoing global health crisis, reports Fightful Select.
It is stated that some salaries have been decreased by "tens of thousands of dollars" for wrestlers and people working behind the scenes. On top of this, WWE quietly let go of an undisclosed number of the people who were furloughed from the company back in April.
This has created a situation where jobs that would usually have been handled by groups of workers are now being handled by just one or two independent contractors. People are being stretched, by the sounds of things, and WWE has also recruited several understudies to cover roles should a member of their existing workforce fall ill and find themselves unable to work for a period of time.
WWE is currently going through the process of briefing multiple departments of what the cutbacks will entail going forward.
A sad situation, this, particularly when you consider that the promotion is still expected to make recording-breaking profits in 2020, even if it doesn't run another attended show all year. Fingers crossed those impacted by the cuts land on their feet.
