Hot on the heels of The Iron Claw, the next professional wrestler to be given the cinematic treatment will be the legendary Ric Flair.

In a story first reported by The Wrap, this Nature Boy biopic is being developed by Seven Bucks Productions, the production company of Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson and Dany Garcia. Johnson, Garcia, and Hiram Garcia will produce the picture alongside Misher Films' Kevin Misher. This production partnership is the same one behind the Florence Pugh-fronted Fighting with My Family, which charted the pro wrestling rise of Saraya/Paige.

As of this writing, this Flair film doesn't have an announced title or, obviously, any confirmed cast.

On this news, Johnson commented:

“As a kid who grew up in professional wrestling, I idolized, ‘The Nature Boy’ Ric Flair. He was a hero to me. And once I broke into the wrestling business and began to spill my own sweat and blood – my reverence for Ric turned to respect. Because I realized just how rare and impossible it is to disrupt the wrestling business, culture and truly change the game – and that’s exactly what Ric Flair did. This project is personal, and we can’t wait to tell his unbelievable story. As always, thank you for the house, Ric.”

Of course, Ric Flair is one of the greatest wrestlers to ever lace up a pair of boots, with a career that dates back to 1972. Over those decades, Flair is recognised as a 16-time World Champion, is a two-time WWE Hall of Famer, an NWA Hall of Famer, a George Tragos/Lou Thesz Professional Wrestling Hall of Famer, and was involved in some of the most heated rivalries and best matches the industry has seen.

Nowadays in AEW, the presence of Ric Flair in the modern wrestling landscape is one that has been heavily questioned in recent years, with a 2021 episode of Dark Side of the Ring spotlighting sexual assault allegations against Flair; allegations that Flair has publicly denied.
