The Rock's 10 Funniest WWE Promos

If ya smellllllllllllll....

The Rock is the greatest talker in the history of wrestling. That's an arguable point to a lot of people, but if you look at the types of promos he could do over the years there's really nobody that could do a variety of promos the way he could. He's also the most successful wrestler turned actor that there's ever been and it's really not even close. A big reason for that is because of the personality he showed when he was on WWE TV. Hollywood took notice. He became The Rock in 1997 after his initial "Rocky Maivia" babyface character didn't work. The fans told him that he sucked, so they used it to facilitate a heel turn that led to him talking in the third person. Who would do something silly like that? Nobody. Just him. The fans quickly caught on to his catchphrases and embraced him whether he was a heel or face. One of his famous lines was that he would "lay the smack down" on his opponents, which led to WWE calling their second biggest show Smackdown. That was his influence. These are all promos from his initial WWE run from the late 1990s through 2004 when he took off for Hollywood. Some of the promos he did from 2011 to 2013 were really good too, but a lot of them were disappointing. They just weren't at the same level of greatness. Part of it was the PG rating. Part of it was just because it was a different era with a different crowd that didn't react to him in the same way. There are so many hilarious Rock promos that took place in the ring, during an interview segment or when he was doing a backstage skit. So many people benefited from working with him. There are some great ones that can't even make it into the top ten because there are so many of them. You can find many of those promos on WWE Network, on DVDs that WWE has released over years and Youtube is full of them. There are videos of Rock's insults and funniest jokes all over the place. There's nobody else like him. There probably never will be again. He was a special performer that wrestling fans miss because he's not on WWE TV anymore. Will he ever be back? No idea, but at least we have these memories. Here are ten of The Rock's funniest promos ever.
