Roman Reigns' 10 Best WWE Matches
9. Vs. Daniel Bryan (Fastlane 2015)
So, as a bit of disclosure: throughout this article, you might see phrases like "more experienced" or "led him through" in regards to Roman Reigns' PPV opponents. None of that is meant to imply that Roman's foes simply "carried" him to good matches, because that would be an insult to Roman. It's clear that when it counts, Roman always delivered. However, when discussing the great matches of his career, it's evident that his progress was aided by the true greats of our industry.
Take, for example, Daniel Bryan.
After the disastrous 2015 Royal Rumble at which Reigns was booed out of the building, WWE decided to remedy the situation by putting him one-on-one with the man everyone wanted to win said Rumble for the right to challenge for the title at WrestleMania.
Reigns was put in a no-win situation, essentially. But instead of sandbagging the match and making everything about him, Daniel Bryan helped Roman bring the best out of himself, and the two had a physical, emotional match in the main event of Fastlane. It was here where Roman revealed that, in big match situation as a singles competitor, he could deliver when it counted.
While he was absolutely led by Bryan to such a caliber, this was the on-the-job training he needed to deliver on his own in the future.
