Roman Reigns' 10 Best WWE Matches
5. Vs. Samoa Joe, Braun Strowman, and Brock Lesnar (SummerSlam 2017)
By this point in his career, Roman Reigns had more-or-less accepted his role: he was the main-eventer who everyone would boo. He would stoically push through that negative reaction and pull off big-time performances. In a way, during the summer of 2017, he somewhat faded into the background, as guys like Samoa Joe and Braun Strowman got themselves over as big-time personalities.
However, when the time came for all three men to face off against Brock Lesnar in a Fatal Four-Way match for the Universal Championship at SummerSlam, Roman put on his working boots, and he played his part in making an instant classic.
A non-stop, chaotic mess of high-spots and power-moves, all four men in this match showed off their strengths and showed no weakness in terms of working ability. But Roman remained the constant presence in this match with his selflessness and ability to showcase the best in his opponents, selling for big moves and not trying to make the match about him. In fact, any time Roman cut off someone's offense to a chorus of boos, someone would immediately get offense back on him to get over.
It takes a lot of skill to dictate the tone of a match while not being the focus of it, and on this night, Roman Reigns did that with gusto.
