Bad news for the 'Samoan Submission Machine.'

Samoa Joe picked up a legitimate injury while teaing with Kevin Owens to face Buddy Murphy and Seth Rollins on last night's WWE Raw.

Joe was removed from the match after diving through the ropes and onto Murphy, taking a hard landing on the outside. He was seen clutching his head immediately after and appeared to have trouble getting to his feet, leading to medical staff making the call, leaving Owens to battle the Raw Tag Team Champions alone.

KO eventually fell to the numbers advantage when Buddy rolled him up following a Stunner on Rollins.

PWInsider confirmed that Joe's injury was a shoot, not a work, during the broadcast itself, stating that it "wasn't booked as part of the match," and that "everyone involved was pretty much calling the remainder of the bout on the fly."

The writeup also states that Joe was being examined backstage as the show progressed, though there's currently no word on his injury status.

A big blow for Joe, particularly when considering that he'd only just returned from an absence that forced him into an enjoyable stint in the Raw announce booth in late 2019. Here's hoping it isn't too severe.
