Seth Rollins was Steve Austin's latest guest on Broken Skull Sessions. Interviewed by the wrestling legend on an episode uploaded to the WWE Network and Peacock yesterday (26 September), the former Universal Champion was open and honest in his appraisal of a number of topics relating to his career, including Hell In A Cell 2019.

The 35-year-old faced Bray Wyatt's 'Fiend' character that night. Widely considered one of the modern era's worst matches, its abundance of psychology-shattering finisher no-sells, obnoxious red-light presentation, illogical finish (a referee's stoppage in a Hell In A Cell match), and other issues saw it panned by fans and critics alike.

During the Austin interview, Rollins conceded that the bout didn't go the way he and Wyatt wanted:-

"If you watch it back, it's boos piled upon boos, piled upon boos... and at the end of it, the reaction when the audience didn't get the result they wanted... that's a tough pill to swallow. It sucks. It's a sucky feeling."

Seth continued, explaining how the match informed a change in character that helped lead him to where he is today:-

"We talked about the Drip God character... that character doesn't exist without this match. That's really the catalyst for what happened later in that year. That happened in October, and by the time December and January came around, I'm a totally different being."

The juiciest stuff, however, came when Rollins described a post-match stare-down with Vince McMahon, conceding that he wanted to put hands on the WWE Chairman and CEO for what had happened:-

"At the time, I came through the curtain and I was ready to strangle Vince McMahon. I'm not kidding you, TJ Wilson was there to hold me back. I stared right into Vince's eyes, I looked at him, he looked at me. We didn't say a single word to each other and he walked out... then next day, I went to Vince's office. I was much calmer, and I said 'let's talk about this, we need to figure out what we're doing here because that can't happen again.' It was civil but it took me a night. I was ready to go! If somebody wasn't there making sure I was okay, the temper and the adrenaline."

Rollins had turned heel within weeks of the bout, doing so at Survivor Series 2019 the following month. His 'Messiah' character was born soon after - and the bout was eventually voted the year's worst in the annual Wrestling Observer awards (something Seth also touched upon in the interview).
