Shane McMahon's 9 Most Death-Defying WWE Stunts

6. Diving Cross Body Off Top Of The Cage - Raw 1999

Before Shane became a well-known daredevil, falling 50-feet and somehow avoiding certain death, he was operating as a bit of a wildcard with his childhood friends, The Mean Street Posse. That's when he first showcased his skills to WWE fans, competing in a very respectable match against Test. But one of the first big-time stunts he ever pulled came during his subsequent feud with the Posse. Interrupting a steel cage match between Test and the British Bulldog (after the Posse had already intervened to "dismantle" Test, ostensibly by suffocating him with their sweater vests), Shane climbs the outside of the cage and... ...actually, let's stop here for a minute. Because at this point in time, this wasn't a promising moment for any sort of jaw-dropping stunt. You can tell from the crowd's reaction that Shane simply coming to Test's aid was what figured to be the highlight of the match. They weren't expecting anything more. Besides, Test had already delivered a surprisingly solid flying elbow from the top of the cage earlier in the match. And that's all part of what made this moment so crazy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8kujscMbx_I It was entirely unexpected. And it was delivered so briskly and without any big build-up that the crowd barely had time to process what the hell the son of a billionaire--the one in the button-down shirt and slacks--had just done. "Who just dove off the top of that cage? Shane McMahon just dove off the top of that cage? Are you f*cking kidding me??" I imagine that was the standard crowd member reaction that night.
