Recent reports revealed that WWE has banned wrestlers from slapping their legs during spots, including superkicks. That, naturally, led interviewers to ask the master of that move for his thoughts on the company-wide ban.

Shawn Michaels told The New York Post that he doesn't have a huge problem with it.

HBK realises that pro wrestling evolves, and says it's important for veterans to "embrace those changes" or risk being left behind. He did slap his thigh when connecting with the 'Sweet Chin Music' during his heyday, but realises why WWE would want talent to stop adding their own sound effects to strikes today.

According to Shawn, striking a balance is important. Wrestlers from his era weren't perfect (which he admitted during the interview), and so nobody should expect that from workers in 2021 or beyond. That's unrealistic, after all.

Look at the pic of Michaels blasting Hulk Hogan with a superkick above to see that he slapped his own thigh/buttock to add more weight to the move. Surely, if workers are able to be as sly and/or quick about their slap as Shawn, nobody should have a problem.

Vince McMahon's word is law in WWE circles though, and there's no doubt that slaps have been abused over the years.
