Trusty veteran Frankie Kazarian defeated Mike Santana to become the brand new TNA World Champion on Thursday's episode of Impact. The main event lasted just 54 seconds, and it ended when Kazarian rolled Santana up after the former champ had kicked out of his Fade To Black finisher.

This result ends Santana's run with the top title at just 33 days. He beat WWE NXT's Trick Williams to bag the belt at Bound For Glory on 12 October, and some fans on social media are already questioning why his run with the strap was so short.

It is, however, worth saying that various NXT stars like Lexis King, Brooks Jensen, High Ryze, Charlie Dempsey and Robert Stone ambushed Santana before his scheduled match vs. Ryan Nemeth had really got going. That attack paved the way for Kazarian to rush out with the 'Call Your Shot' trophy both he and Nic Nemeth had co-won at Bound For Glory.

Less than a full minute later, there was a brand new champion.

This marks Kazarian's first run with the TNA World Title. He's held the X Division gold 6 times, and is a former 3-time TNA Tag-Team Champ, but Frankie had never worn the promotion's biggest prize. So, this will be a really satisfying landmark moment for the former AEW man. It remains to be seen what the future holds for Santana, because he wasn't really given a chance to bed in as champ.

By winning the belt, Kaz has already written his name into the history books as a TNA Grand Slammer.
