Tag-Team Splits Up On Latest WWE SmackDown?

WWE's road to WrestleMania 39 included this last-minute tag-team split.

It looks like WWE's creative team is done with the 'Banger Bros' union between Drew McIntyre and Sheamus, at least for now.

The pair got aggressive with one another during a revolving door promo segment on this week's episode of SmackDown. Sheamus claimed that McIntyre was backstabbing him by going after GUNTHER's Intercontinental Title, and then Drew pointed out that his old pal just couldn't get the job done when he had the chance.

Eventually, others like LA Knight, New Day and Karrion Kross got involved to set up a number one contender multi-man for next week's show. There, WWE will finally determine GUNTHER's opponent for WrestleMania 39.

It does seem like McIntyre and Sheamus are done as a tag-team going forwards though. Their tandem was pushed ahead of the latter's Brawling Brutes faction (which has been downplayed ever since on TV), and it did seem like WWE had plans to make 'Banger Bros' a longer-term thing.

SmackDown seemingly put an end to that. Now, the likely outcome is that Drew wins next week and challenges GUNTHER come 'Mania. Where that leaves Sheamus/Brawling Brutes is anyone's guess.
