Television's 10 Best "Wrestling Episodes"

5. "That Wrestling Show" - That 70's Show

boy meets world
Fox

Like King of the Hill, That 70’s Show used wrestling to explore the dynamics of male relationships, though they actually do make it to a WWF show. All of the characters are looking for something from this quintessential American male activity: Eric and his father look to repair their strained relationship, Bob is looking for masculine support as his marriage crumbles, and Hyde and Kelso want someone to buy them beer. Through the magic of pro wrestling, everyone gets his wish (though Red and Eric once again find themselves at odds after the show after an impromptu living room match proves divisive).

In real life, Wisconsin was Gagne territory, but this WWF-themed episode has plenty for fans to get excited about. There is a good deal of in-ring action shown, including guest appearances from some of the WWF’s biggest stars at the time, including Ken Shamrock and Jeff Hardy. Even the Rock gets in on the action, playing his own father under an afro wig and false mustache. He claims that Eric and Red’s closeness gives him hope that his own young son will one day grow up to be the most electrifying man in all of sports entertainment, which Red dismisses: “Yeah, good luck with that.”

Immortal Dialogue: “Can we get a move on? If I miss that 20 midget free-for-all I’m gonna be super pissed.”
