That Time DX Were So Hated WWF Fans RIOTED House Show

Shawn Michaels
WWE Network

In defence of an audience that almost needed their own defence in court, the company hadn't exactly furnished them with an enthralling evening before Shawn Michaels robbed them of the rest of it.

With thanks to the magnificent thehistoryofwwe.com for the card info, WWE's barren, post-Survivor Series '97 lull betrayed the incredible mainstream explosion they'd experience just weeks later following Mike Tyson's arrival. It's a line-up enough to p*ss off the most placid of fans, let alone those already riled up by security trying and failing to calm them down after some overtly vociferous protests in the first half.

WWF @ Little Rock, AR - December 15, 1997. Kane defeated Chainz. The Undertaker defeated WWF IC Champion Rocky Maivia in a non-title casket match. Marc Mero defeated Flash Funk. Henry & Phinneas Godwinn defeated the Headbangers in a country whipping match. Jeff Jarrett & Jerry Lawler defeated WWF Tag Team Champions the Road Dogg & Billy Gunn via disqualification

Not exactly a primer for the transcendent WrestleMania that followed. And with Kane and The Undertaker already trotted out before the interval, a front-loaded card required D-Generation-X to offer more than their money's worth in the main event. When they binned it off completely, hell worse than anything 'The Brothers Of Destruction' could summon completely broke loose.
