The Forbidden Lore Of WWE's Becky Lynch
She was interviewed by SHIMMER during her hiatus in 2009.
It’s a blend between the work and the shoot. She talks about Daizee in kayfabe at first, before the tone gets a bit sombre. She reveals that she had moved to Orlando with the intention of taking a course to become a personal trainer, establishing a base income with which to pursue wrestling as a career, but was unable to do that as a result of her injury. Or unwilling - she’s somewhat cryptic and evasive throughout. Interestingly, when asked about her future goals, she said she wanted to live a nomadic life before moving to New York. She was half-right.
In the intervening years, Knox held ambitions of becoming an actress, and spent a not inconsiderable amount of time working towards that goal. Her profile page is still viewable on the Irish Film & Television network. Knox lists her “key credits”, all amateur theatre productions, which include adaptations of ‘Girl, Interrupted’, ‘Don Juan Comes Back From The War’, and ‘The Threepenny Opera’. Knox had the credentials - she graduated from the Dublin Institute of Technology with a B.A. in Acting, and supplemented her learning at Columbia College Chicago - but it was not her destiny. She also worked as flight attendant for Aer Lingus to support her low-paying dreams.
To the hardcore women’s wrestling fans - and there weren’t many of them at all in the 2000s - Rebecca Knox’s long absence was felt as badly as CM Punk’s. In a neat parallel, she was gone for the same length of time. Knox’s vanishing no doubt enhanced her reputation.
