The Greatest Match From Every WWE WrestleMania

12. WrestleMania XXIV: The Undertaker Vs Edge

Edge only got the chance to headline one WrestleMania, but he certainly made it count. His bout with the Undertaker is a tactical masterclass as he frustrates the Deadman with counter after ingenious counter. Edge lost the match but truly cemented his main event status, and the Undertaker added another classic to his resume while maintaining the streak.

The Undertaker, quite rightly, always receives a strong booking, but his opponent is given a real shine here, too. Far from the scrappy underdog, Edge is in control for a lot of the match, using his guile and trademark opportunism to throw the larger man off his rhythm.

This was never going to be the match to break the streak, but it runs closer than you might expect. The psychology is smart, too - there’s no silliness, no chain of finisher after finisher being kicked out of, just two men with a game plan and a big gold belt on the line.

In a time when the same old faces seemed to be closing the show, a lesser seen pairing like Edge and Taker is a welcome change, and they pull off everything you could hope for. No crazy swerves or gimmicks, just two top tier wrestlers working a great match together.
