10. WrestleMania XXVI: The Undertaker Vs Shawn Michaels

One of the most eagerly awaited rematches in all of wrestling, Undertaker vs Michaels II may even exceed the original. Well, actually, it doesn’t exceed the original, not quite, but it tells a substantially different story, and it tells it to perfection.

The build to this match is just dynamite. Michaels is desperate to get his win back, but Taker isn’t interested in locking horns again. Michaels resorts to drastic measures, costing the Deadman the heavyweight championship at Elimination Chamber. Undertaker accepts Michaels’ challenge - but with Shawn’s career on the line if he loses.

Emotions are running high, then. Much like Ric Flair’s retirement match it’s no surprise that the retiree loses, but the means by which Michaels loses are as impactful as wrestling gets. Battered but defiant after kicking out of a tombstone, Michaels slaps Undertaker across the chops, practically begging for him to finish the job.

And finish the job he does, turning off the lights on one of wrestling’s greatest careers with a final finisher. It doesn’t top 25 - if that’s even possible - but as narrative derived through fighting, not much can compare.
