The Monday Night War Debate: 14 Things We Learned From Eric Bischoff & Bruce Prichard

4. Rick Rude

Chris asks Eric what his perception of Montreal was, and he said he heard about it from Rick Rude who was in the locker room when it happened. Apparently Rude was furious and asked if he could come to work for WCW the next day. Bischoff said he was shocked, but it didn't affect the way he looked at Bret or how he planned to utilize him. This leads into a discussion of Rude bing the only guy to appear on Raw and Nitro on the same night. The mention of "The Ravishing One" was the only thing to elicit audience applause the entire debate, showing the tremendous respect the deceased performer still has from the fans. Prichard says that Raw was a taped show and they did live voiceovers in the studio. Nitro began an hour before Raw and they had it on in the background and when they saw Rude they thought "Weeeeeell f*ck/" Bischoff said he really enjoyed pulling off that move and it's right up there with Luger, Madusa and giving away finishes as extremely satisfying moves he pulled off while in charge.
