The Real Reason Wrestling Has Never Been So Hard To Watch
"As of this writing" has, as you may well imagine, become a vital weapon in any writer's arsenal of late.
The world and its very literal ills is changing at remarkable rate, not least in how we're all required to act and be at any given time. Advice from authorities yesterday is redundant today and will be archaic tomorrow as isolation takes hold and people gravitate towards escape in a way they can no longer do beyond living through the Dawn Of The Dead mall scene buying a pint of milk.
Wrestling can and will be that escape. Netflix and Disney+ will offer films and television to the mainstream but the WWE Network, YouTube, Dailymotion, Twitter and pretty much anywhere that plays video or audio will be full of all a wrestling fan could crave to help them forget. Your friends here at WhatCulture or wherever else you consume content will do our best to continue in good faith too, from the article you're reading now to the video you dove into for 20 minutes ago or the podcast you might listen to later today.
But wrestling as it currently exists just shouldn't bother, no matter how much it feels like it has to.
