"The Stories In AEW Are As Strong As Ever" - Tony Khan (AEW News)

Tony Khan praises AEW's "fantastic" storytelling.

With some pro wrestling personalities and fans at times questioning the storytelling of the wider AEW product, Tony Khan has hit back at such claims, stating that the company's stories are "as strong as ever".

Speaking during an appearance on Z100 New York's Superstar Crossover (via f4wonline), the AEW president said:

"I think the stories in AEW have been as strong as ever. I think the stories in AEW have been fantastic this year. And we've been talking a long time about some great stories in AEW, and you [show host Josh Martinez] just said how fantastic you thought some of the storytelling around Jon Moxley's World Championship reign has been. People even questioned that aspect of it, and I think that was proven right."

Khan would add:

"Whether you love them or not, nobody can question there's a lot of storytelling in AEW. I think it's fantastic, and a lot of the fans who actually pay attention to it think it's great. There's people that would say that there's a lack, and I don't agree with this, I think it's untrue, of stories in AEW. I don't think that's true at all, and it's really, not only a misconception, but a falsehood that people spread."

While some have been critical of the AEW stories that have been presented over the company's six-year lifespan, few stories, as alluded to by Tony, have drawn as much frustration and criticism as the recent reign of terror from Jon Moxley and his Death Riders. It may have been a great moment to see 'Hangman' Adam Page dethrone Mox as the AEW World Champion at All In last month, and Page has been the most fascinating, storied, developed character in AEW history, but some fans questioned whether the brilliance of Hanger's rise back to the top was truly worth a lot of the dour, dire Death Riders-driven TV seen in the months prior.

As ever, this is a subjective matter on an individual fan basis, but for Tony Khan, at least, he seems happy with how stories have played out, and continue to play out, across the AEW product.
