The Undertaker: 10 Awesome Backstage Stories

1. Taping The Fists

The most popular backstage story (not Montreal Screwjob-related) is the one that solidifies Undertaker's position as the head wheel turner of WWE. The man who always ensures that the business is looked after before any one individual.

According to many accounts (one being from Undertaker himself) Shawn Michaels was to-ing and fro-ing over the idea of losing his title to Stone Cold Steve Austin at Wrestlemania XIV. Many people (one being Shawn Michaels himself) all state that this was the period of peak SOB HBK, and there was a general feeling in the air that Michaels wouldn't allow the match to happen the way it was planned.

Undertaker then, very logically and politely, informed Michaels that if he had any creative changes he wished to implement then it would mean “a very long night”. Some variations of the story see 'Taker waiting in Gorilla position during the match, taping his hands in preparation for any mutinous activities. According to a later Q&A with Michaels, the threat and the taping never happened (but then, he would say that).

Whether real or not this has become the definitive backstage Undertaker story, highlighting his sheer dedication to the business that made him a success.
