Something of a forgotten classic amongst all the chaos of the early 1997 period in WWE.

After Shawn Michaels infamously 'lost his smile' and vacated his WWE championship, the company was left scrambling and they came up with this Fatal Four Way match for the vacant championship. Undertaker, Bret Hart, Stone Cold Steve Austin and Vader had been the final four in the Royal Rumble match the previous month, so this match acted as something of a restart and was even contested under over-the-top elimination rules.

A smartly worked bout, all four worked brilliantly together and kept the underlying storylines chugging along nicely in a good brawl worked at a quick pace (by 1997 standards anyway). Vader was legit busted open in a brutal segment of the bout, while Austin worked the whole thing with the flu!

Hart ended up winning the match when he clotheslined Undertaker over the top rope, but he lost the title to Sycho Sid the next night; the man HBK was supposed to drop the title to originally.
