25. Chyna Disrespects The Women’s Division (WrestleMania X-Seven)

Here's another from the JR archives, but it's linked to his work behind the curtain rather than his excellence with a headset on around ringside. Ross has always maintained that Chyna hated being placed in the hunt for the Women’s Title as 2001 dawned. The 'Ninth Wonder Of The World' felt that role was completely beneath her, and she definitely didn’t want to have competitive matches with the likes of Ivory.

So, rather unprofessionally, Chyna squashed the Right To Censor member at WrestleMania X-Seven in less than 3 minutes. She’d be gone from the company just a few months later. Of course, there's a sad backdrop to Chyna's exit. She was distraught after finding out that her lover Triple H was actually seeing Stephanie McMahon behind her back.

Something had to give. Or, more accurately, someone. It was Chyna.

Her personal story is as tragic as her rise to fame in wrestling was astonishing, but Chyna's ego was definitely out of control in '01. Apparently, at least according to JR, she believed she should be earning the same sort of money as top stars like Steve Austin. That was just never going to happen. Not because she wasn't valued, but she didn't move the needle like 'Stone Cold'. Not many did.

Seeing Chyna blast through Ivory and treat the entire women's division exercise like a nightmarish excursion she'd been forced to embark on sucked at the time and it sucks now. Should she have been winning fairly handily and leading the pack? Sure, but there was no need to disrespect the other ladies at the same time.

'Mania X-Seven didn't have many bum notes. This was one of the few.
