The WORST Moment From Every WWE WrestleMania

40. Susan St. James On Commentary (WrestleMania 2)

WWE WrestleMania Vince McMahon Susan St James

One of the first things McMahon wanted to do with 'Mania was make each entry unique. That'd give way to general pageantry eventually, but having a direct USP wasn't his worst idea. In 1986, Vince beamed the second supershow from 3 different locations: Los Angeles, Chicago and New York. A trio of major markets all served up to the viewer.

In lieu of producing commentary from a remote location, the WWF posted announce teams to each venue, and there was a celebrity calling the action everywhere you looked. Elvira was in LA, Cathy Lee Crosby was in Chicago, and sitcom actress Susan St. James joined McMahon on the call in New York.

That was their first mistake.

The 4 bouts St. James watched in Uniondale? Paul Orndorff vs. Don Muraco, Randy Savage vs. George Steele, Jake Roberts vs. George Wells, and a boxing bout pitting Mr. T vs. Roddy Piper. Throughout, Susan was totally annoying, out of her element and just overall atrocious.

Her cries of: "UH OH" veered into meme territory before that was even a thing. Being fair, St. James wasn't up to speed on the federation's product, but that should've instantly told the company that drafting her in was a terrible plan. No, Elvira and Crosby didn't prove to be the next coming of Jim Ross, but they were offset by the likes of Jesse Ventura and Gorilla Monsoon.

McMahon couldn’t guide Susan through things, so the New York portion was unbearable on the ears. There are only so many "UH OH" or, "WHAT A MANOEUVRE" moments one can take.
