The WORST Moment From Every WWE WrestleMania

13. Twice In A Lifetime (WrestleMania 29)

WWE WrestleMania 29 John Cena The Rock
WWE

The Rock vs. John Cena worked as a one off, then WWE told quite the fib.

Listen, multiple matches would’ve been fine and dandy, but it was the company that pushed the ridiculous ‘Once In A Lifetime’ gimmick in the first place, and they were never going to stick to it. They had no intentions of booking Rock vs. Cena once then calling it quits, so why bother with the branding?

Those 'Twice In A Lifetime' memes cheapened the rematch at WrestleMania 29. Worse, The Rock tore his abs, quads and more mid-match, so he couldn’t even enter a top performance that improved on the original. Yikes. Maybe that's the biggest villain here: Rocky's rotten luck early in the match. He was visibly in agony as the headliner progressed, but powered through to return the favour and give JC back his win.

WWE likely knew they planned to put a sequel on at 'Mania 29, so they shouldn't have told that 'Once In A Lifetime' lie at all. Deep down, Rock also probably realised that he was pushing his body to the limits by trying to work another lengthy headliner, but...the money (not that he needs it!) was staggering and there was business to be handled.

Cena and Rock were willing to do their part as foes, because they didn't fully detest one another by 2013, but WWE's overblown hype train couldn't behave. The company will 100% go back on such definitive statements again in the future. It's a wrestling problem, not just their problem.
