The WORST Moment From Every WWE WrestleMania
38. Top Stars Bore Everyone Senseless (WrestleMania IV)
Rick Rude vs. Jake Roberts looked like one of the better matches in the 14-man WWF Title tournament at 'Mania IV on paper, but it was rubbish. Despite having an issue going into the pay-per-view (Rude was ribbing Roberts about how much his wife actually fancied 'Ravishing'), they somehow conspired to have one of the most boring bouts in existence.
Together, Rick and the 'Snake' went to a humdrum 15 minute draw. It was abundantly clear within minutes that they were stalling for time and that this would go all the way, which didn't help. Thus, the match played before silence in front of a bored live crowd who ranged from disappointed hardcore fans to Donald Trump's high-rollers.
What a waste.
Those aforementioned Trump pals looked on in bemusement at most of the action anyway, but even they must've known that Rude and Roberts were stinking up the joint. It says everything that this collision earned the 'worst of' (dubious) distinction on a card that also included matches like Don Muraco vs. Dino Bravo and Bam Bam Bigelow vs. One Man Gang.
Anyone hoping that a workhorse duo like Rick and Jake could pull the nose up on those ended up Oliver Humperdinked. Even Bam Bam's flashy manager would've smacked both with his trusty cane for delivering a performance so uninspired and bland!
Overall, the WrestleMania IV tournament was a washout only hardcores will glean something from, but nobody had Roberts vs. Rude down as stinker of the night going into the show. Not a chance.
