The WORST Wrestling Moment Every Year (1989 - 2025)
2. 2024 | Jey Vs. Jimmy Uso
In the third brotherly battle in WrestleMania history, Jey Uso fought Jimmy Uso. It was no Bret Vs. Owen. It was no Undertaker Vs. Kane. Hell, it was no Miss WrestleMania Battle Royal.
That last bit is a joke, but really, the WrestleMania match it was most redolent of was Bret Hart Vs. Mr. McMahon. Only four seconds shorter, at 11:05, Jimmy Vs. Jey was also an incredibly depressing, one-dimensional contest that you couldn’t believe was so heavily promoted.
It’s reductive to state that it was a never-ending exchange of superkicks and nothing else, because that ignores the awful bit where Jimmy Uso, who is terrible at acting, faked reconciling with Jey (also terrible at acting), who fell for the ruse like an abysmal babyface. But it mostly was a dismal procession of superkicks, and the Usos aren’t even good at them. They fail to grasp the “thrust” component entirely. They each lean back, slap their thigh without a care in the world about suspending your disbelief, and gently plant their soles somewhere near the chins of their opponents. This happened roughly 45 times + 45 times. In the aftermath, Jey claimed in various media interviews that the match was only bad because it was cut for time. This was a pathetic excuse for two reasons.
Firstly, the Young Bucks managed to work a fantastic main event at All In when their 30 minute match was cut down to 10.
Secondly, everybody knows what 20 minute Jey Uso matches look like, and they’re crap as well.
