TNA's The Final Deletion: 8 Things You Totally Missed

1. The Entire Feud Is In Matt Hardy's Head

So this isn't exactly something you may have missed, as it is requires more reading into than one generally recommends when dealing with professional wrestling. But that is exactly what I am doing and I don't plan on quitting now, as the Final Deletion is that rare breed of television entertainment that requires both reading too much into and abandoning logic to enjoy.

Maybe, just maybe, the entire Final Deletion/Brother Nero/Broken Matt saga is playing entirely in Matt Hardy's head. This whole thing could be a delusion of the elder Hardy. It has been a Hardy Brothers story but one that has rested entirely on the shoulders of Matt.

At the beginning of the Final Deletion. Señor Benjamin (who is actually Reby Sky's father) asks Reby in Spanish if Matt is unwell. Reby shrugs it off, as one would in such a situation. Benjamin's subsequent preparing of the battlefield could easily be interpreted as enabling.

The drones at Jeff's house are another clue. Jeff's response is largely one of miffed irritation, as opposed to that of an integral player in a battle. The entire story happens on a Matt Hardy timeline, on his terms, by his rules. Could the entire thing be some sort of solipsist nightmare?

The Final Deletion was the history of the Hardy Boyz. The backyards of North Carolina started their story, and feasibly ended it. Their logos, their rivalries, their accomplishments, their stories and their futures all featured at some point. It was utterly ridiculous, but the Final Deletion was utterly fantastic for it.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
