Top 10 Women In WWE History

5. Chyna

Wherever Chyna seems to go, drama or controversy follow. However, there is no denying that, at one time, Chyna was one of the most popular members of the WWF roster and legitimately belonged on shows. Her ego got the best of her in the end and overshadowed her great accomplishments in the wrestling business. According to her own biography, Joanie Laurer had a very tumultuous childhood filled with alcoholic parents, abuse, sexual assault, and accidents. After her fitness career didn't take off, she entered Killer Kowalski's wrestling school and was brought into the WWF as Triple H's bodyguard. The wrestling world had never seen a female as a bodyguard but Chyna's impressive physique and imposing demeanor made her a great fit for the role. Thanks to workers like Mick Foley, the audience began to believe Chyna could actually beat up these male wrestlers and she became a popular figure on the roster. As a member of DX, Chyna rose to fame alongside the other members of the stable until being split off and feuding for the Intercontinental title with Jeff Jarrett. She became the first female to ever hold a major WWF title when she defeated Jarrett at No Mercy 2000. She was also the first woman to qualify for the King of the Ring tournament and the first to compete in the Royal Rumble match. She entered into a feud with Chris Jericho over the Intercontinental title before becoming a popular pairing with Eddie Guerrero. However, real life began to get in the way of Chyna's wrestling career as her longtime boyfriend Triple H began dating Stephanie McMahon. A combination of this event along with Chyna believing she deserved a shot at the WWF World title led to her departure from the company in 2001. She has yet to return to WWE (don't hold your breath on that one) but her accomplishments during wrestling's hottest period cannot be ignored.
