Yesterday brought the official confirmation that the ambitious new promotion helmed by former WWE stars the Authors of Pain, Wrestling Entertainment Series, had postponed its debut event from 4 June to 9 July.

Due to be headlined by Adam Scherr (the former Braun Strowman) vs. former UFC heavyweight Alistair Overeem, WES UK remains booked for the 10,000-seater Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham, England. It remains to be seen how many of the wrestlers originally announced for 4 June will be able to make the new date, though their number included the likes of CJ 'Lana' Perry, Lina 'Nia Jax' Fanene, and many other ex-WWE stars.

One wrestler who definitely won't be there on 9 July is IMPACT Wrestling's Deonna Purrazzo. She tweeted the following on Tuesday, calling the experience "frustrating":-

Purrazzo was set to team with Chelsea Green to face Tenille Dashwood and Madison Rayne for the WES Women's Tag Team Championships on 4 June.

Fightful Select has published a report containing new information on the WES UK postponement, stating that talent have been told they will be paid "to a certain extent", though there is currently no word on if this has happened yet. A number of wrestlers are upset with the news, too. Understandable, given the upheaval this can cause for independent contractors attempting to plan their schedule.

WES cited this weekend's Platinum Jubilee celebrations in the United Kingdom as the reason for the postponement. Thursday and Friday are public holidays in the country this week.

Fightful also notes that WES had a few unannounced surprises lined up for 4 June. Whether or not these will still feature on 9 July remains to be seen.
